Travel

York is easily accissible by train from major other UK cities such as Leeds (~0.5 hours), Manchester (~1.5 hours) and London (~2 hours). Convenient airports close to York include Leeds-Bradford, Manchester, East-Midlands and Birmingham.

Venue

The conference will be held at The Guildhall, an newly refurbished Grade I & II Listed Building based in York City Centre and overlooking the River Ouse. The conference venue is less than 15 minutes walk from the train station and conveniently located for many hotels, restaurants and tourist sights. As York is a popular tourist destination there are many options for accommodation in the city. Things to see and do in York

York is a city with Roman, Viking, and Medieval heritage and has a large number of tourist attractions including York Minster, the National Railway Museum, Castle Museum, Clifford's Tower and an almost complete city wall that you can walk around. There are also many excellent restaurants and pubs in York. There are many websites that provide more detailed information (e.g. www.visityork.org). If your schedule allows we recommend arriving a day early or staying a day after the workshop to see some of the sights of York.
